It gets easier.
Pep Talk: It is hard to move. It is scary to go to a new school. It is painful to be away from your best friend. It is lonely without your parents. These things get downplayed in all the excitement associated with the build up to a transition. Then, when you’re fully unpacked and seemingly settled in, it hits you: You’re the only constant in this new chapter of your life. Where are all the instant friendships and understandable maps and big city people who get me?! Um, I don’t know… those assholes weren’t around when I needed them either. It gets easier. You’re in a new place but you’re by no means finished growing. A social life will spring up around you and you’ll eventually feel comfortable. Until then, you can always call home.
Today remind yourself: It gets easier.
