College Admission Outcomes: a choose your own adventure pep talk

So you got in. A million congrats, my darling. This school obviously has good taste and they’re lucky to have you. You’re going to have more exciting, bizarre experiences than you can imagine and, with your open mind, you’ll grow from them all. College will, of course, be a little different than you expect, so you’re going to roll with the punches. You’re going to be strong and brave. You’re going to protect yourself, as always, because you’re precious and your safety is important. You’re going to absorb life as it comes and learn everything you can. You’re going to be great. You already are.

So you didn’t get in. Oh fucking well, their loss. You know, rejection is very often a gift. It tells you, “Psst, you’re supposed to go this way instead. There’s something even better for you over here.” This is not a set back. This is a new chance. You’re needed elsewhere. You shine everywhere you go and in everything you do and that will continue to be true as you march into your unknowable future. You’re on to bigger and better things than you’d planned.

Either way, today remind yourself: Que sera sera.
